Do you have English Language Learners in your classroom? This online course will teach you how to use the into/through/beyond approach which is a proven effective model for working with ELLs. Attention will be given to ELD and SDAIE strategies such as scaffolding, schema building, and reformatting text. Both formal and informal assessment methods will also be shared. This course is worth 3 ⅓ semester units/5 quarter units from UC San Diego Extension. For detailed information on university credit, click here.
"Before taking this course, I knew very little about how to provide effective teaching strategies for my increasing population of ELD and SDAIE students. I now feel much more confident in structuring appropriate lesson plans that will meet their needs. These lesson plans and strategies will also be effective for my other struggling students with learning disabilities as well. Thank you!" - Jaime Maire
