Kathaleen’s Biography
My name is Kathaleen Hanke. I am currently the Family and Consumer Science (F.a.C.S.) department chair and teacher of 8th graders. During my teaching career I have taught seventh through twelfth grade. I have taught Family Living, Child Care and Development, Foods, Clothing, etc. at the high school level and Commercial Food Service at the vocational school.
In addition to teaching, I have been involved in several extra curricular activities with students. I have been advisor for Future Homemakers of America, Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, High School Student Council, and Junior High School Student Council. I have also coached volleyball, cheerleading, and pompons at various times during my career.
A few years ago, I decided to go back to school also. I now have my master’s degree in Instructional Technology plus thirty-eight additional hours. I love to work with computers. I have taught MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Grade Machine classes to colleagues and other adults. I am on the Technology Committee, and I have helped with the development of a Technology Scope and Sequence Plan for our district. I have enjoyed using computers in my classroom. In class I have my students do projects using the Internet, creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations, making a brochure, using MS Word, MS Excel, and doing a project where they select the format.
