Jennifer's Biography

Hello, my name is Jennifer Nobile! I am a graduate of UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in History.  I continued my graduate studies at APU (Azusa Pacific University) where I received my teaching credential and Master's Degree in Educational Technology.  I am currently working on my second Master's Degree in Computer Science as a result of my love for technology (yes, I even wear a pocket protector).

I worked for Azusa Unified School District as a Technology Coordinator after having taught in the classroom for several years. My position required me to do staff development for the district including training for administrators, teachers, students and parents.  However, a large part of my job entailed going into the classrooms and observing what teachers were already doing and making recommendations of how to integrate technology, if any, into their curriculum in order to enhance their teaching.  Our district received a $5 million grant to implement technology and most importantly staff training, at all sites within the district.  I have recently gone back to the classroom at the elementary level teaching third grade and am enjoying implementing the technology with my own students. The little ones are very eager to learn and pick up extremely fast. I am also an adjunct professor for La Verne University teaching technology to new teachers as the state has mandated teachers to be more tech savvy.

My philosophy is that it’s not about technology, it’s about learning and knowing how people learn. I believe that successful technology integration comes from the understanding of how students learn and why they learn.  I am a strong advocate of Brain Based Research, Problem Based Learning (PBL), Concept Based Curriculum, and the Constructivist Learning Theory.  My hopes for this class are to show you how easy it is to take the fabulous lessons and great teaching strategies that you are already doing in your classroom and infuse them with technology in a way that can be used as a powerful teaching tool.
